Travelers stranded in Dubai after fake agent collected money to get them jobs in UAE (Video)

A fake travel agent has been apprehended after he obtained money under false pretense from people in Ghana seeking to relocate to Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

He allegedly collected money from a group of people with the promise to get them jobs abroad, but he was later discovered to be a scammer.

The travelers reached Dubai airport and were stranded without any place to go because they could not get across to the agent.

Some of them who had informed their family members in Ghana about their travel plans contacted them and shared their dilemma which led to the agent being traced and nabbed before he could flee.

In a video which surfaced on social media, a lady was fuming at the fake agent after he was caught and he acted like he was making an important call.

Some other people could be heard in the background questioning the man for defrauding their people.

It was reported months ago that Nigerian lady landed in trouble in the United Kingdom after being scammed and deceived by a travel agent.

The 20-year-old reportedly paid the agent about €20k (approximately N15 million) to process student visa for her, but she did not realise she would end up being a victim of fraud.

According to a London-based Nigerian man, he was called to attend to the matter when she got detained at the airport in UK. The lady who wanted to study in the European nation realised after her arrest that she was scammed with a fake student visa and it left her totally devastated and depressed.

The man said he drove for five hours from London to Sunderland to help facilitate the girl’s release from detention.

A Nigerian man identified as Kolawole Abiodun Abayomi, has recounted how he fell victim to a travel scam orchestrated by his wife’s family.

He said that made arrangements with a travel agent who pretended to have helped many people relocate abroad.

According to Kolawole, the agent was invited by his wife’s family and he showed evidences of how he secured passports and visas for people looking to ‘japa’.

He said he believed it was all genuine because his in-laws were the ones who made the arrangements, and he was so trusting that he involved his sister who lives in Qatar.

The man wrote; “My wife family brought a man and showed me diff evidences that he do diff travelling passports and visas and I believed them bcux this my wife’s family and we started all d process I even included my sister wey dey Qatar on her own she decided to do.”
