In other news, a Ugandan man, Peter Wakube, has been arrested for assaulting his wife who caught him having an affair with a secret lover.

The 34-year-old man admitted before the Makadara Law Court that he assaulted his wife, Aida Nekesa after she caught him in their matrimonial bed with another woman on Christmas Day.

Wakube is awaiting sentencing after pleading guilty to a charge of assault against Nekesa in the Kosovo area in Mathare, Nairobi on 25th December 2022.

The prosecutor said his client, Nekesa, narrated how she returned from her work as a house help around 2 in the afternoon and found her husband, Wakube in the act with a woman.

She knocked several times without response so she forcibly broke into the house, and found the lovebirds in the amorous act.

The court heard that Wakube descended on Nekesa with punches and kicks, and also dragged her outside the house.

He continued beating his wife for interrupting his enjoyable moment, before neighbours intervened and rescued the complainant.

It was gathered that the wife sustained injuries on the face and abdomen. Neighbours accompanied her to Mathare police station to file a report before proceeding to a hospital.

Police officers were mobilised following the report and the accused, Wakube was consequently arrested at the house.

He pleaded for leniency before Principal Magistrate Agnes Mwangi claiming he is remorseful.

She ordered for the accused’s social inquiry report to be tabled before sentencing on 24 January, 2023.
