Naira Marley, Sam Larry released from police custody

The Lagos State Police Command has released famous singer, Azeez Fashola aka Naira Marley and his associate Samson Erinfolami Balogun alias Sam Larry.

Spokesperson for the Lagos State police, Benjamin Hundeyin confirmed that Naira Marley and Sam Larry were released from custody after meeting their bail conditions.

In a tweet on Friday, Hundeyin wrote; “Naira Marley and Sammy Larry, having met their bail conditions, have been released.”

A Magistrate’s Court sitting in Yaba, Lagos State on November 6, granted Azeez and Samson bail in the sum of N20 million with three sureties.

The duo had earlier been arraigned and remanded on October 6 over their alleged involvement in circumstances surrounding the death of a popular singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad.

The magistrate, Adeola Olatunbosun, told the defendants to submit their passports and ordered that they are to report weekly to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti.

Since Mohbad’s demise, Nigerians have demanded an investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death. There were protests in several parts of Nigeria as young people trooped out to register their grievances.

Although Mohbad was buried less than two days after he passed away, police authorities exhumed his remains. An autopsy was later conducted, but the result is not yet out.
