Trending video: Niger governor bars civil servants from wearing kaftan to work

Governor of Niger state, Umar Bago, has ordered that civil servants in the state should henceforth desist from wearing native attires commonly as kaftans and Babanriga to ministries, agencies and departments, from Monday to Thursday.

He gave the order during the presentation of land development and preparation equipment at the Brains and Hammers Rice City in Wushishi Local Government Area of the state over the weekend.

The governor stated that only English attire is permissible going forward, and any worker who fails to comply with the directive will be dismissed from the service.

Bago further said that his government which came in on May 29 will be introducing compulsory farming activities in the state.

He said partly; “From Monday, we will issue an order preventing civil servants from wearing kaftan and Babanriga to work between Monday and Thursday.

No Babanriga, No Kaftan, we are here to work. Anybody who wants to wear Babanriga should resign. We are also going to engage in serious farming activities going forward.”

9jawoman; Instead of forcing foreign culture and dressing on them why not regulate and supervise the time they come to work and when they close, how much work they put in while at the office ? Mental slavery is a disease !

aishat_bashir_tukur; Personally it’s not about the wear it should be more about productivity and their are certain Jobs even if you beg them to wear such they can’t and has provision being made financially for the cooperate wears.
