Nigeria international, Victor Osimhen won the Man of the Match award following Napoli’s hard-earned victory at SC Braga on Wednesday night.
The Partenopei started their campaign in this season’s UEFA Champions League with a 2-1 win at the Estadio Municipal de Braga.
Giovanni Di Lorenzo opened scoring for Napoli on the stroke of half time, While Bruma equalised for Braga four minutes from time.
The Serie A holders defeated their hosts late on following an own goal at the Estadio Municipal de Braga
Though Osimhen didn’t score in the game, he was recognised for his impressive display by the UEFA Technical Observer Panel. Napoli will face Bologna on Sunday.
“Fast and powerful, extremely dangerous in the box and brilliant play with his back to goal!,” UEFA wrote on their official website.

FIFA released the nominee list on Thursday, September 14 and it includes Argentina’s Lionel Messi, France superstar, Kylian Mbappe and Norway striker, Erling Haaland.
Osimhen was recognised for his impressive displays for Napoli during the 2022/23 season. The 24-year-old Napoli star scored 26 goals in 32 league appearances for the Partenopei.
The football star is also in the running for the 2023 Men’s Ballon d’Or. Others who will battle for the award with Osimhen include Julio Alvarez and Kevin de Bruyne for the award.
