I grew up with a lot of Africans, Victor Boniface is a great guy – Granit Xhaka

Bayer Leverkusen midfielder, Granit Xhaka, has shared some of the experiences which help strengthen the bond with his African teammates.

The Switzerland international recently granted an interview with Nigerian sports journalist, Oma Akatugba, and he was asked what prompted the way he bowed to greet Victor Boniface’s mum at the club’s headquarters.

In a moment of joyful reflection following Bayer Leverkusen’s triumph in securing the German Bundesliga title, Xhaka expressed his affinity for African culture and people.

The former Arsenal star said he grew up with a lot of Africans, and loves the culture, mentality and how kind they are to other people. He also revealed that one of his best friends is Ghanaian and Togolese.

He said; “I grew up with a lot of African people. I have one of my best friends, he is from Ghana and Togo. I love the culture, the mentality, how kind they are to other people. For me it is the same. We grew up like this with a lot of respect.

“Bony is a great guy and but as well a great family and you can see this football club is more than special, because you can see families they came out and they have a chance to enjoy with us”.
