Enugu police arrest man for allegedly killing mother, sister

A man Somadina Orji, has been arrested for allegedly killing his mother, Mrs Charity Orji, and his sister, Miss Ukamaka Orji in Enugu state.

The Enugu State Police Command disclosed that the suspect Igboariam in Anambra State, buried his sister and mum in a shallow grave in their garden.

He was said to have perpetrated the crime on Monday, December 4, 2023, at Umuagu Inyi in the Oji River Local Government Area.

The state police spokesperson, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, confirmed the incident on Sunday, saying Somadina had been apprehended and an investigation was still ongoing.

Ndukwe stated that the murder suspect would be arraigned in court as soon as the investigation was completed.

“The suspect has been arrested, and the case is under investigation. The suspect would be prosecuted once investigations are concluded,” he said.

Sources disclosed that the mother, Mrs Orji, was born in Inyi but married in Igboariam, Anambra State, had been living in her family home with her children for many years.

In a video footage recounting the incident, her son, who allegedly deals in narcotics and has been feuding with her for some time over his behaviour, chose to murder her.

However, a community leader in Inyi, Mr Ben Obi while addressing journalists, indicated that the difficulties began weeks ago when the suspect had a conflict with the suspect’s younger brother.
