DMW first lady, Liya dumps Davido’s record label

Nigerian musician, Suliyat Modasola popularly known as Liya has revealed that she’s parted ways with Davido Music Worldwide (DMW).

The 23-year-old songstress made the disclosure during a question-and-answer session with fans on her Instagram page.

A curious fan asked if she was still associated with DMW and in response, Liya wrote; ‘Nopee’, indicating that she is no longer part of the DMW label.

However, the ‘Melo’ crooner assured her fans that she remains loyal to the 30 Billion Gang (30BG), which is what OBO’s fanbase is known as.

The fan wrote: “Are you still in DMW?”

Liya replied: “Nopee, But #30bg for lifee.”

It may be recalled that in October 2020, Davido officially signed Liya as the first female artiste under his imprint Davido Music Worldwide. The artiste met the FEM crooner in the club through Peruzzi.

Also, in an interview in 2021, Liya recounted how he was impressed when she played some of her songs and he asked her to fly to Abuja with him the next day.

“I played Davido a couple of my songs, including ‘Melo’ and he was hooked, then he asked me and my manager to travel with him the next day to Abuja. During our trip, he started saying ‘first lady way’, then took it to Twitter,” Liya said.

He took to social media and shared a conversation between him and OBO, where he pleaded passionately to be given another chance.
