Ronaldo moves to convince De Gea to join Al-Nassr

Cristiano Ronaldo is reportedly at the forefront of attempts to convince his former Manchester United teammate David de Gea to join him at Al-Nassr.

90min reports that Ronaldo has been trying to persuade the 32-year-old goalkeeper to join him in the Saudi Pro League.

However, the Spanish veteran goalie is not enticed by the proposal as he wants to continue playing UEFA Champions League football.

De Gea Al-Nassr

De Gea left Manchester United in the summer after his contract expired. The 32-year-old has failed to find a suitable club so far.

Real Madrid and Bayern Munich were reportedly considering De Gea amid their first-choice keepers Thibaut Courtois and Manuel Neuer being out injured.

However, both clubs opted against signing him and interest from Saudi and the Qatar Stars League has not attracted the goalkeeper.

De Gea, who turns 33 in November, has spent his entire career to this point with only two clubs – Atletico Madrid and then Man Utd. He has not played for the Spain national team since 2020 and was left out of their squad for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

His successor at Man Utd, Andre Onana, has endured a rocky start to life at Old Trafford, most recently conceding a soft goal during their 4-3 defeat to Bayern Munich in the Champions League on Wednesday.

During his final season at Man Utd, De Gea was criticised for his insufficiency at playing from the back and with his feet – a facet in which Onana excels.
