Nicki Minaj, Lil Baby lamented when rival fans dragged them for working with me – Davido

Award-winning Nigerian singer and songwriter, David Adeleke also known as David, has revealed that Hip Hop stars, Nicki Minaj and Lil Baby called him to complain when they were being dragged by rival fans over their collaboration with him.

It may be recalled that he featured Nicki on Holy Ground and Lil Baby on ‘So Crazy’ which were tracks off his A Better Time album.

Davido flew out to shoot the music video for ‘So Crazy’ and Lil Baby made himself available for his scenes, but there is yet to be a videofor Holy Ground.

The DMW boss said during an interview on +44 that fans of his counterparts were sending messages to the American artistes on social media platforms and questioning them as to why they agreed to be on his track.

According to him, as a result of the incident, before he released ‘Timeless’ he had to plead with fans to shun rivalry or banter and avoid attacking anyne.

The Omo Baba Olowo further said he didn’t feature any American artiste in the new album because he his primary concern was just to put out music.

Davido said; “It’s crazy like they leaked my album. For example like this stanship. Obviously, my fans, I can’t get to all of them but there is one person I can call and I will be like ‘Yo! Talk to them, tell them to clam down’.

“So, before the new album [Timeless] came out, I called one of them, I wad like ‘Look, last time I dropped my album, you guys were like just bashing everybody. So, when it wad my turn to come out, unnecessary things happened’.

“Even Nicki called me. Nicki Minaj, Lil Baby were like ‘Yo! Why are these..’. Like the other fans were DMing them ‘Why did you do a song with Davido?’.”
