Kogi government to prosecute mother, son who buried stepbrother alive

The Kogi State Government has said it plans to prosecute all the suspects involved in the burying of an 11-year-old boy, alive.

Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Hajia Fatima Kabir Buba made the revelation during an interview on Thursday, October 12.

It was reported on Wednesday that one Goodness Oshodi was caught burying his little stepbrother, Friday Oshodi for allegedly stealing N1,000 in Apamisede, Zango Daji, Adavi Local Government area of Kogi state.

In a video that has gone viral on social media, the teenage suspect claimed that he was instructed by his mother to punish the erring boy. The elder brother had already buried his sibling up to the neck level when he was apprehended by neighbours.

He said in Pidgin; “He thief money. The last time he went to thief money, We dey ask am where he put the money, and I no know how much he thief oo but he said nah N1000. The last time he stole, nobody beat ham, and nobody touched Ham.”

Speaking on the incident, the commissioner said the ministry is also making all the necessary arrangements to put the victim in an orphanage home. She added that Kogi state government will ensure justice is served on all the perpetrators of the evil act.

“The victim Friday Oshodi is currently in our custody while the prime suspect Goodness Oshodi is in Police net. This is wickedness in the highest order. How will somebody bury his fellow human alive?

“The woman who ordered the punishment of this young boy is currently at large. I’m assuring the general public that she will be arrested and made to face the full wrath of the law,” Buba stated.
