I’m focused on Super Eagles – Peseiro denies applying for Zamalek job

Super Eagles head coach, Jose Peseiro has dismissed reports that he applied for a coaching job at Egyptian club, Zamalek SC.

Egypt’s Kooora earlier reported that the 63-year-old’s name is listed among the coaches who have submitted their CV’s for the top job.

“Jose Peseiro is among the names already nominated to lead Zamalek. But he does not enjoy any preference. He is just one name among many CVs on the board of directors’ table,” a club source told Kooora.

But the Portuguese coach restated his committent to the Nigerian national team, emphasising that there has been no negotations from Zamalek.

Speaking to btolat.com, Peseiro said; “At the present, all my focus is on the Nigerian national team only. There are no negotiations from Zamalek in any case and I am not thinking about anything else.”

There have been persistent calls for his sack after the Super Eagles could only draw their opening two games against Lesotho and Zimbabwe.

CorrectNG recalls reported that he said Super Eagles players pushed him to accept a reduction in salary from the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).

The former FC Porto coach agreed to a pay cut so that he could remain in charge of the Super Eagles team. He said his players begged him to stay so they can win the tournament.
