President Ahmed Bola Tinubu has charged the newly sworn-in ministers to do all in their powers to turn around the Nigerian economy within the shortest possible time.
He issued the directive to the cabinet at the inaugural Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting he presided over at the Presidential Villa, Abuja on Monday.
The focal points of the meeting were âRoadmap for the Economyâ presented by the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister for the economy, Wale Edun.
Edun, who later briefed State House Correspondents, said that the economy is not where it ought to be. He revealed that FEC examined eight priority areas and identified targets to deliver within the next three years.
The minister further disclosed that President Tinubu also charged the ministers to roll out policies and programmes to turn around the economy.

Leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele said Nigerians are facing the consequences of voting for a Muslim-Muslim ticket which he warned against several times before the election.
The popular clergyman, in a statement signed by his media aide, Osho Oluwatosin, said he warned the people of the consequences of electing President Bola Tinubu.
Ayodele also urged Nigerians to brace up as they will experience more suffering under the Tinubu-led administration.
According to him, the reason Nigerians are experiencing hardship under Tinubuâs leadership is because God is against a Muslim-Muslim presidency for the nation.
The cleric recalled being criticized for speaking against the same faith ticket during the campaign period because many people, including clerics, failed to see beyond their noses.
Primate Ayodele said; ââWhere are the clerics supporting the Muslim-Muslim ticket? They have turned against the government because they couldnât see beyond their nose. Itâs not about hating any religion, itâs about doing what God wants. God doesnât support the Muslim-Muslim ticket and till today, itâs still the same.
ââNigerians are yet to experience hardship, just like I warned before this government, Buhariâs tenure will be a joke compared to what this present government will bring to Nigerians. Itâs just barely three months and we are already wailing, itâs going to be a long ride and it will not be easy.
ââWhen I warned them, many of the APC supporters believed I hated Tinubu or had personal issues with him. Some even felt I hated Muslims and thatâs why I strongly stood against the Muslim-Muslim ticket. They are all jokers and now, I am sure they have seen that my prophecies against Tinubuâs president werenât a result of personal issues, it was Godâs directive to warn his peopleâ.
