You’ll be prosecuted for ‘crimes’ committed by your dog – Osun government

Osun State Government has cautioned dog owners in the state to ensure their canines are tamed or they will face prosecution for its ”crimes’.

The Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, Tola Faseru issued the warning, while meeting with dog breeders, owners and veterinary outfits.

The directive follows a recent unfortunate incident where dogs attacked and killed a baby in the Halleluyah Estate area of Osogbo in August.

It was gathered that during the attack, the mother of the five month old baby girl was also injured by the fierce looking dogs.

Faseru had stated during the meeting that the Osun government would not condone dogs unleashing terror on residents and any owner whose dog is found culpable would be arrested and prosecuted.

He said; “Henceforth, dog owners will face necessary disciplinary action in line with the dictates of the law if any of their dogs is found culpable.

“The rate at which unlicensed dogs roam the streets aimlessly is unfortunate. It is now compulsory for all veterinary outfits to ensure that they are registered with the State government.”

The commissioner also revealed that the State government had put in place plans to ensure that all dogs must get an anti-rabies vaccination certificate.

“The certificates must be duly signed by a certified veterinarian,” he added.

The animal was able to chase off the assailants after a fierce in-house battled that led to one or more of the armed robbers sustaining life threatening injuries..

A video he shared on social media that was reposted by Thatblackbwoyy on Instagram, showed a trail of the thieves blood on the floor while they were making their escape.

He captioned the post; “Armed robbers came to my house and was attacked by my dogs. Miracle no dey tire Jesus.”
