Women are not treated properly in Africa – Singer, Joeboy

Nigerian music star, Joseph Akinfenwa Akinwale popularly known as Joeboy, has claimed that women in Africa are not treated properly.

He said that this reality is what inspired his hit song ‘Better’ as he wrote it in a bid to shed light on domestic violence against women.

Joeboy opened up during an interview with Vivz after being asked if he was speaking up for a woman that has been treated badly by another man.”

The host asked: “‘Better’ is my favourite song ever. In that song, it’s like you’re speaking up for a woman that has been treated badly by another man.”

Joeboy said: “It’s something that happens a lot in African society; domestic abuse. Sometimes women are maltreated and not treated properly. I wanted to shed light on domestic violence against women.”

Nigerian media personality and actress, Moet Abebe has claimed that internet users, especially those in Nigeria, do not like women who are outspoken.

The former Soundcity Video Jockey, who has faced criticism over some of her controversial opinions on the Bahd And Boujee Podcast with co-host, Tolani Baj, said the internet despises women who are assertive.

Moet said; “The internet in general or let me just say the internet in Nigeria. The internet, in general, doesn’t seem to like outspoken women.

“As long as you are a woman that is coming out to say this is what I like, this is what I don’t like, this is what I want, this is what I don’t want, the internet doesn’t like it.”

The host, Tacha, concurred with her; “exactly!”
