Woman sets fire to her fence after ‘landgrabbers’ attempted to take over her family house (Video)

A woman sent illegal landgrabbers scampering to safety after she started a fire on her fence when they attempted to break in and take over her family house in Lagos state.

The house, located at Sere close Off Adeola Adeleye street in Ilupeju, Lagos was besieged last Wednesday, May 24 by a group of men that tried to forcefully gain entrance into the building.

A video which surfaced on social media shows the ‘landgrabbers’ using sledge hammer to try and break down the fenced gate.

A family source alleged that they came from a nearby mosque on Adeola Adeleye Street, Lagos and claimed that part of the building had been “given” to them.

Family members who live in the building, refused to grant them access into the compound, and instead told them to take the matter to court.

However, the said ‘land grabbers’ this forced a woman who was inside to bring out petrol and lit up the fence after they failed to heed her pleas to stop their illegal action.

According to the source, the matter was reported to the police and the fire was eventually out out, but no arrest has been made till date.

It was also gathered that the land grabbers have not returned to the building since the day of the incident.

“No arrest was made and they haven’t been back as of yet but they’re threatening to return to complete their mission,” the source said.
