Why nobody has sexually harassed me in the industry – Cynthia Morgan

Controversial singer, Cynthia Morgan has revealed that she’s never been sexually harassed by anybody in the Nigerian entertainment industry.

She made this known in a post on her Instagram story while explaining that it is because of her forceful interpersonal skills and tomboyish manner.

The ‘Bubble Bop’ crooner said people are usually surprised whenever she mentions that she has never suffered any form of sexual harassment.

Morgan also disclosed that she used to threaten to hire thugs from Benin to deal with anybody that messes with her in Lagos state.

She wrote; “When I tell people I never witnessed sexual harassment in the music industry they are always surprised. Firstly, in real life, I was a tomboy and secondly, I always use to threaten people on how I will import people from Benin to fuck everybody up. Then they fear me for that Lagos.

It’s just so sad how being feminine and wanting to be successful makes you prey. I really pray for a better Nigeria/world. Stay tough. God will see us through”.

This is coming amid reports that her colleague, Yemi Alade recently opened up on the sexual exploitation she faced in the music industry.

She said when she was new and trying to find her feet, everybody of influence that she came across wanted to sleep with her.

The Mama Africa crooner said she turned them down, however it came with consequences as her refusal to grant their sexual desires made her lose opportunities.

Yemi Alade pointed out that despite being the most viewed and most subscribed Nigerian female artiste on YouTube she almost gets no recognition from award shows every year.

The 35-year-old songstress stated that she has dignity and fans who love her, hence her decision not to succumb to pressure.

In her words; “There was a time in the industry when everyone wanted to sleep with me and it was like, ’Yemi, if you don’t do this, you won’t have that’, going down with men was like a bridge I had to cross to get on some platforms, get some deals and even awards.

When I made my decision never to engage in sexual activities for gains, lots of opportunities were automatically blocked for me. Ask yourself why Yemi Alade who is the most viewed and most subscribed Nigerian female artiste on YouTube gets almost no recognition from award shows year after year.

Even during Twitter debates, no one mentions Yemi Alade as one of the biggest female artistes in Nigeria. They really blocked everything for me. But I’m glad coz I have my dignity, I have my life, I’m making cool cash and above all, I have fans who love me so much…”
