Why Man Utd beat Chelsea – Pochettino

Chelsea manager, Mauricio Pochettino has admitted his team were not able to match the energy of Manchester United in their 2-1 defeat on Wednesday night.

According to him, Ten Hag’s side started better than The Blues in the first half and they deserved the three points at the end of the game.

Scott McTominay scored twice either side of a Cole Palmer goal to seal maximum points for the Red Devils.

Following the game, Chelsea is 10th in the Premier League table with just five wins from their opening 15 matches.

Pochettino said; “The feeling is that they started better than us, showing more energy than us. We couldn’t match the energy. I think they were better than us and there’s nothing I can say.

“The second half we started well but then we conceded and again I think we missed a little bit the energy to be more aggressive. We had some chances but not enough to get back in the game again. But overall my feeling is that they were better than us and deserved the three points”.

CorrectNG recalls how Pochettino disclosed that there are two clubs he will never manage when he leaves Chelsea.

The Argentine tactician reportedly said he will never manage English Premier League club, Arsenal or La Liga team, Barcelona.

He explained that he will avoid Arsenal because they are considered the worst against Tottenham Hotspur. He stated this ahead of his return to Tottenham with Chelsea on Monday.

Pochettino was linked to the Gunners job four years ago after Unai Emery was sacked. Pochettino was Spurs’ head coach for five years and was sacked in 2019, before taking the Chelsea job this summer.

“I always said that the only clubs I would never manage are Arsenal – they are considered the worst enemy for Tottenham – and Barcelona, because of Espanyol,” he said.
