Popular Nigerian rapper, Eva Alordiah has opened up on the reason she quit music when she was at the peak of her career.
In a Twitter post on Friday, Eva reflected on the mental struggles she had to contend with even though she was one of the top female emcees in the country.
The ‘Hi’ crooner said she battled with depression and was starving as the money in her account was only enough to buy her next meal.
She said that she made the decision to quit one day after realising that she could no longer cope, so she dedicated the next three years of her life to self development.
Announcing her comeback to the music scene, Eva shared a video of herself freestyling and disclosed that she writse about escaping the Matrix and teaches creatives how to monetize online.
In her words; A few years ago I walked away from a seemingly “successful” music career. I was burnt out. Depression had taken an almost permanent seat beside me.
My bank balance was just enough to buy my next meal. If there was a picture of the phrase “Starving Artist”, it would have been my damn face.
One day, I said “Fxck it! I got myself here, I’m gonna get myself out.” I invested the next 3 years in relentless self development:
building my body
taking care of my mind
investing in online courses
learning how to make money
building multiple online businesses
I look back and I swear I wouldn’t change a thing! Taking responsibility for my shit helped me get my life back. Today my life is so much better because I was bold enough to say- “Na me fuck up!””
