White Money gives update on his plan to win Grammy

Big Brother Naija star and rising singer, Hazel Oyeze Onou, popularly known as White Money, says he shelved his desire to win the Grammys.

It may be recalled that in 2023, he vowed to bring home a Grammy award after releasing some songs that he believed would earn him a nomination and eventual win.

But in a recent interview with content creator, Egungun, the BBNaija ‘Shine Ya Eye’ winner, said he is no longer interested in the prestigious award.

According to White Money, the American award has been compromised and has lost its value, so his target is now on the local Headies Awards.

He said; “The way things are going now, Grammy don cast. Make we manage Headies. I’m not sure if I’m still pursuing my desire of winning Grammys. Now I’m pursuing any award that keeps me relevant.

Because after what Grammy organisers did to our superstars, Davido and Burna Boy at the last award ceremony, it’s now looking like they are using Nigeria for publicity stunt. But never say never. My style of music is unique. If it takes me to the Grammys, no wahala.”

Street-hop musician, Portable, real name Habeeb Okikiola earlier revealed that winning a Grammy is his ultimate goal as an entertainer.

The record label founder who recently had an interview with creator, Timi Agbaje, affirmed that he would feel accomplished if he wins a prestigious award.

According to him, the domestic awards are allegedly compromised and it is evident in the reality that they win awards in the country despite being able to sing and perform better than them.

Portable said; “My ultimate goal in the music industry is to win a Grammy. I will only feel accomplished if I win a Grammy. I want to win the African category.

“I want to win an international award because our local awards are compromised. I sing better than most of my colleagues. A lot of them use autotune. They can’t perform with live band or sing good music. They can’t make conscious music.”
