‘We’ve been lied to’ – Seun Kuti dissects Forbes 2024 billionaire list

Afrobeat singer and songwriter, Seun Kuti has expressed serious doubts following the just released 2024 list of billionaires by Forbes.

According to the magazine, French fashion mogul, Bernard Arnault is the richest man in the world with a networth of $233 billion followed by Tesla CEO, Elon Musk ($195 Billion), Amazon founder, Jeff Bezos ($194 Billion), Facebook boss, Mark Zuckerberg ($177 Billion) and Larry Ellison ($141 Billion).

They are the world’s top 5 richest men per the latest ranking in 2024. The breakdown showed that the world’s wealthiest men have increased their wealth to a combined total of $869 billion since the COVID-19 lockdown.

However, reacting to the report, Seun Kuti questioned how the 5 businessmen have managed to increase their wealth between 2020, when COVID-19 struck, till now.

The instrumentalist opined his social media page that the billionaires’ list was fake, because he believes “no one can work that hard.”

Seun said: “The world’s 5 richest men since lockdown, have increased their wealth to a combined total of 869bn US dollars.

“That means they can spend 1 million dollars a day for the next 476 years. No one can work that hard. We have been lied to.”
