Ugandan man marries seven women same day to prevent jealousy

A Ugandan man, Hajj Habib Nsikonnene became the topic of discussion in Mukono district last weekend when he wedded seven women at the same time.

The groom invited members of his community to the wedding ceremony which was filled with pomp and pageantry.

He exchanged marital vows with the seven women on the same day and later hosted a reception event that attracted a large crowd.

According to local reports, the brides were taken to local salons for styling around 8 in the morning, after which they were placed in super custom vans, with specialized plates bearing the names of each of the brides.

Photos and videos which surfaced on social media showed Nsikonnene and his wives having a big procession led by bike riders, through the towns of Kalagi, Kasana and Nakifuma.

It was gathered that the man with his new wives, namely; Aisha, Aisha, Fatuma, Sharifah, Rashida, Mariam, and Zainab arrived at their home at 6 pm in the evening after the occasion.

Giving his speech at the event, Nsikonnene thanked his women for being loyal to him; (the eldest has been with him for seven years).

The groom said he did the introduction separately but decided to marry seven of them on the same day because he did not want any form of jealously that may lurk in his home if he wedded them one by one. He left many guests perplexed when he added that he has plans to bring more wives in the future.

“I introduced them separately and decided to wed them all at once to make one big happy family. I am still a young man and in the near future, God willing, I cannot say this is the end of it,” he added.

According to the groom’s father, Hajj Abdul Ssemakula, polygamy has been long practiced in their family.

“My grandfather had six wives who were separated by curtains in a single house. My own late father had 5 wives and I myself have four wives who live in one house.”

The residents described the wedding as one for history books, while others said the event had cured their jealousy altogether.
