Tinubu names expressway in Abuja after Chinua Achebe

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the naming of the M18 road infrastructure in Guzape District, Abuja after renowned novelist, Chinua Achebe.

According to Olusegun Dada, Special Assistant to the President on Social Media, Tinubu made the disclosure during his address at the inauguration of the road in Abuja on Saturday, June 8.

He wrote: “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu Commissions the M18 road infrastructure in Guzape District of Abuja. Names road after Nigerian Novelist and Poet, late Professor Chinua Achebe.”

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike earlier revealed why he recommended that one of newly commissioned roads in the FCT be named after noble laureate, Prof Wole Soyinka.

It was reported on Tuesday that the road project commissioned by President Bola Tinubu was the Full Scope Development of the Arterial Road N20 from Northern Parkway to the Outer Northern Expressway.

Wike disclosed that the contract for the construction of the road named Wole Soyinka Way, was awarded in 2020 at the cost of N30.6 billion, adding that the completion of the road project has brought relief to the residents of the FCT.

He said; “The proposal to dedicate the road to Prof. Wole Soyinka is rooted in the importance of honoring individuals who have made significant contributions to progress and development during their lifetime, thus setting an example for others.”
