Thuram regrets giving away Messi’s gift years ago

Inter Milan star, Marcus Thuram has expressed regrets for giving away a pair of boots that Lionel Messi gave him when he was a child.

Thuram revealed that he gave it to a childhood friend when he was a child. The incident occurred when the France striker’s father, Lilian Thuram and Messi were teammates at Barcelona between 2006 and 2008.

Marcus wanted to join his father’s training camp when he was much younger but did not have the required boots.

According to him, however, Messi, who was 19 or 20 at the time, happily lent the boots to him and said he was free to keep them.

Marcus, who was 10 years old at the time, not realising the importance of the gift, gave it away to a friend the next day.

He told DAZN: “Messi was the only one who could leave me a pair. I was 38 standing, and he was 40–41. I regret it every day.”
