Tems celebrates Ayra Starr, Tyla on their Grammy nominations

Top Nigerian songstress, Tems, has congratulated her colleagues, Ayra Starr and Tyla who both bagged a nomination each for the 2024 Grammy Awards.

The Recording Academy released the list of nominees on November 10, 2023, and Burna Boy led the African category with four nominations.

Ayra Starr’s “Rush” and South African singer, Tyla’s ”Water” were nominated in the maiden Best African Music Performance alongside Asake, Olamide, Burna Boy and Davido.

Tems took to her Twitter page on Friday and said she is proud to see the only two female singers in the category dominated men.

The ‘Try Me’ crooner said Ayra and Tyla deserved the wins and she wished for more to come their way.

Tems wrote; “Seeing these girlies win is actually everything because they work so hard and they believed! I’m so happy and proud rn, a huge congratulations So well deserved. More is coming!! @ayrastarr @Tyllaaaaaaa”

Nigerian Afrobeats star, David Adeleke, also known as Davido took social media to celebrate as he finally got nominated for a Grammy Award.

The ‘FIA’ crooner bagged a total of three nominations in the 66th Grammys, second to self acclaimed African Giant, Burna Boy with four nominations.

Davido’s fourth studio album, ‘Timeless’ was nominated in the Best Global Music Album category. While ‘Unavailable’ was nominated in the Best African Music Performance.

The singer’s melodious tune, ‘Feel’ got the final nomination under the Best Global Music Performance category.
