The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, on Wednesday, confirmed it adjusted the pump prices of Premium Motor Spirit known better as petrol by nearly 200% across the country.
The development followed the announcement by President Bola Tinubu during his inaugural address on May 29 that fuel subsidy was ‘gone’.
The pump price of petrol skyrocketed to between N488 and N557 from N195 per litre in many parts of the country.
There are six states with the lowest pump prices after the adjustments and they are located in the South West, namely; Ekiti, Ondo, Osun, Ogun, Oyo, Lagos.
Lagos state moved from N184 to N488
Ekiti state moved from N189 to N500
Ogun state moved from N189 to N500
Osun state moved from N189 to N500
Oyo State moved from N189 to N500
Ondo state moved from N189 to N500
In the South East, the price ranges from N515 to N520, while for the South South, the price has been adjusted from N511 to N525 per litre.
In the North West, the price of the product was raised to N540. In the North East, it is now between N550 to N557 per litre.
The price of petrol in the Middle Belt ranges from N515 to N550. In the Federal Capital Territory, it moved from N194 to N537 per litre.
