Ministers from the south-west region who were directed by the federal cabinet to relocate to their home states to douse the tension created by the #ENDSARS protests, have presented their report to the federal executive council (FEC).

The report presented on Wednesday, recommended a thorough investigation into the Lekki toll gate shooting incident of October 20, particularly the role of the military.

The recommendation is coming after a visit of ministers to the scene of the shooting in Lagos last week.

Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, who read the decision following today’s FEC meeting said the administration would “undertake a thorough investigation into what happened in the Lekki Toll Plaza, particularly the role of the military and ensure that the outcome is made public with a view to achieving closure on the matter.”

Peaceful protesters had gathered at the Lekki toll gate on Tuesday, October 20 when men of the Nigerian army stormed the protest ground to disperse them and then opened fire.

The incident sparked outrage within and outside the country, as domestic and international bodies are calling for thorough investigation and justice for the victims.
