Singer, Simi demands Nigerians’ vote her if she runs for president

Nigerian singer and songwriter, Simisola Kosoko professionally known as Simi, has jokingly mulled the idea of running for president of Nigeria.

The songstress warned her country people to ensure that they vote for her if she ever contests for the number 1 position in the country.

Simi president

She made the call through her official Twitter account amid trolling she received from other Africans, especially Ghanaians and South Africans, after Super Eagles failed to win the 2023 AFCON.

Simi lamented about how she was ‘taking bullets’ for trying to defend her country when foreigners were bantering Nigerians after the AFCON final.

She issued a warning to Nigerians, saying; “Not me taking bullets for my country 😂😂😂😂😂. If I run for president , if dem born una well, no vote for me 😩”

Noble Laureate, Professor Wole Soyinka has said that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ignored his advice not to vie for presidency in 2023.

The playwright, who paid a courtesy visit to Tinubu, at his Lagos home last year, said he was there to see how the President and his wife were doing after ignoring his advice.

Soyinka said he has submitted a seven-point agenda to the President during the visit he described as an “embarrassing” one.

He said; “I came here with a seven-point agenda. And we had a very thorough discussion on those items. Actually, it’s an embarrassing visit because when I visited him the last time, it was to try and persuade him not to run for office.

“I told Atiku and himself to please leave the ground so young people could run. That’s the last time we met about five years ago. So I came to see how he was doing after ignoring my advice. I came to see how both he and his wife were weathering Nigeria, and to wish them a Happy Christmas”.
