Singer Portable arrested, to be detained for 72 hours

The Ogun State police command has arrested controversial singer, Habeeb ‘Portable’ Okikiola, after refusing to honour summons.

Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Abimbola Oyeyemi, confirmed the arrest and said that the artiste had been invited for questioning five times.

Portable had earlier been given a 72-hour ultimatum to surrender himself or be arrested after a petition was filed against him.

Oyeyemi said the singer has is currently cooling his feet at the state headquarters of the police in Eleweran, Abeokuta.

It was also gathered that the Portable will remain in police custody for 72 hours until Monday when he will be charged to court.

CorrectNG recalls that the state police said minimum force will be used to apprehend the hyper artiste.

There was drama early in the week when the singer resisted arrest after some police officers stormed Odogwu Bar and Restaurant to whisk him away.

Portable challenged them to know the reason for them showing up and went on Instagram live to reveal that a Yahoo boy hired 20 police officers to intimidate him.

The security personnel were eventually forced to leave his office after their failed attempt to take him to the station.

Speaking on the incident, Oyeyemi, said; “We have also sent an invitation to him through his father twice for questioning after a report was lodged against him. The police approached a court to get an arrest warrant for him following his refusal to honour the invitation.

On sighting the police, Portable stripped himself naked so as to create a scene. Portable is not bigger than the law. We are going to use minimum force to arrest him.”
