Nollywood actor, Timini Egbuson has opened up on his journey into the Nigerian movie industry and what motivated him.
He revealed during a recent interview that his first on-screen role was in the popular TV drama series, Tinsel, and after that he starred in MTV’s Shuga.
Timini said the pay he got from Shuga was huge and that even though he was told that it was a rarity to receive a handsome pay, he was however, encouraged by the paycheck to go into acting fulltime.
According to the actor, his sister, Dakore Egbuson who is also a seasoned actress told him that the industry is not lucrative and he should use his talent in other fields, but he still felt the need to explore.
“Luckily I got a role on Tinsel, the director on Tinsel was a casting director for MTV Shuga, and she called me up when it was time for close auditions and I got the role. When I got that pay cheque from sugar, it was a lot, I was like ‘bruh’ but this girl said there is no money in this thing’.
“She said it is a once in a lifetime thing, but I knew that if the paycheck could come then there was a possibility for other paychecks to come, and I stuck to it,” Timini said.

After that I stopped to dey auditioning for the Naija movie industry, as a content creator then, I never thought that my consistency would pay off one day but instead, I got discouraged and diverted elsewhere. By now, maybe they would be the ones looking for you if you are doing well in your lane.
In auditions, some would have been picked already, just packing people for hours on standing in the name of audition. Sometimes you will get to audition venue at 6am and you are number 1065 on the list and they want just how many cast?
Some boys dey come pick knackable girls and that’s their own menu, wetin concern them with wetin dem no go pick them😂. Wetin’ my eyes don see for lagos audition ehn… No matter how you go early, you will still see people being ushered through the back door.
