Security improved in Nigeria since I became President – Tinubu

Nigeria’s President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu says the nation’s security has improved since he assumed office on May 29, 2023.

Tinubu stated this in his New Year broadcast message to Nigerians on Monday, 1st of January, about seven months ago after his inauguration.

The president revealed that his administration has been working silently to free captives from abductors.

He said though it may not have solved all the security problems confronting the country, it is working hard to ensure that Nigerians have peace of mind in their homes.

Tinubu said; “Since our administration took over the mantle of office, security has improved. Silently, we have worked to free captives from abductors.

“While we can’t beat our chest yet that we had solved all the security problems, we are working hard to ensure that we all have peace of mind in our homes, places of work and on the roads”.

The president’s statement is coming about one week after terrorists killed no less than 195 people during an attack on Bokkos and Barkin-Ladi Local Government Areas of Plateau State.

Meanwhile, few days ago, a video which generated reactions online captured the moment residents of Lagos state were lamenting to President Tinubu who is in the state on holidays.

His convoy was passing Idumota market in Lagos Island and traders alongside bystanders expressed dissatisfaction, shouting in Yoruba, “Ebi npa wa oo” meaning – we are hungry.

Lagosians to filed on both sides of the road as the convoy of the president passed through the ever-busy market, refused to hail him but instead kept talking of their pains.
