Two brothers drowned while swimming at Ibeshe Beach in Lagos state on Christmas Day, 25th of December 2023.
Spokesperson of the state Police Command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, made this known while addressing the press on Thursday, December 28.
Hundeyin told the News Agency of Nigeria in Lagos that someone reported the incident to the police. He said the incident occurred at about 6pm while the siblings with surname Adegboyegawere enjoying the Christmas with their friends at the beach.
According to the Police PRO, the brothers, with the Adegboyega brothers, were 26 years and 23 years, and the family was resident in Festac Town.
Hundeyin said all efforts by the friends of the brothers and local divers to rescue them proved abortive, after which the incident was reported to the police.
He also said detectives visited the scene where the deceased drowned, after whicht local divers were employed to locate the bodies.
The Police spokesman said the the family of the deceased siblings have already been informed of the unfortunate incident.
