Ace Nigerian singer, Michael Adebayo Olayinka, whose stage name is Ruger, has declared that he is no longer loyal to ‘some godfather’ in the music industry.
The ‘Asiwaju’ crooner denounced loyalty to an undisclosed godfather in a trending video while stating that this year is all about himself.
Ruger dropped these words in a freestyle that surfaced online days after he left music executive, D’Prince’s label, Jonzing Records.
Announcing his exit from Jonzing World via Instagram on February 6, the singer said he was grateful to the record label and D’Prince but it is time for him to take a bet on himself.
In a new freestyle titled ‘Blownboy’ released under his own label, Blown Boy Entertainment, the singer officially denounced godfatherism, asserting himself as his new boss.
“I denounce every loyalty to some godfather, this year I’m about me,” Ruger sang.
Mixed reactions trailed the clip as fans gave suggestions on how he should have handled whatever fall out he had with former boss, D’Prince.
@KanyimaSam; Good for you but it would have been wise to have kept this information to yourself and do your thing. You may need that “godfather” in the future

@mrbakare_; Ruger made some revelations in this jam and It’s rather unfortunate that women can destroy any relationship that’s going well. Please fear women o
@BiboyeDein; The same mistakes from all of them leaving the record label. Reekado Banks that is very good is facing the same issues till tomorrow. Ensure you have proper agreement before leaving your record label and make sure you have the necessary machineries available to help push ahead
@SumolaIdowu; Let us all speak the truth. Ruger is really that good. He is one of those artistes who have found their own sound & is dominating with it. Like the likes of Asake, Fireboy, Tems now. Ruger is fire in his own way.
