Respecting Tinubu doesn’t stop me from calling him drug dealer – Datti Baba-Ahmed

The 2023 Vice-presidential candidate of the Labour Party, (LP) Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, has said that showing respect for Bola Tinubu wouldn’t deter him from referring to the president as a drug dealer.

Datti Baba-Ahmed made the remark during an interview on Arise TV, shortly after a world press conference by Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, on Monday in Abuja.

He said that he met Tinubu at the Mosque during prayers, and was respectful towards him, but stressed that he only did that because the president is older than him.

The former lawmaker’s comment comes amid allegations that Tinubu had been involved in drug-related activities many years ago whilst in the United States of America, but the Supreme Court declined to make rulings on such matters.

Speaking on the matter, Baba-Ahmed said; “Showing Tinubu respect does not mean I will not call him a drug dealer”.

He asserted that Nigerians must reclaim their country while stressing that they have the right to do so.

“Remove the guns from the hands of Nigerians and redirect them against the enemies of Nigeria; Nigeria must reclaim the country!

“Sovereignty and power belong to the people! Democracy is the right of those who can practice it,” he added.

The Labour Party deputy VP candidate also called for the resignation of President Bola Tinubu and his Vice, Kashim Shettima.

Baba-Ahmed said Senate President Godswill Akpabio should be allowed to conduct another presidential election after the resignation of Tinubu and Shettima.

In his words, “Can Tinubu and Shettima just resign and let the Senate President conduct another election? They were fraudulently sworn in, and we will not work with an illegitimate government. If it is not constitutional, we are not touching it.”
