England international and Manchester City star, Raheem Sterling is reported to be in talks for a bumper £350,000 deal with English Premier League defending champions, Manchester City. If agreed, the deal which is coming just 12 months after a £300,000-a-week extension agreement of last November, would see Sterling move into the ‘league’ English football’s highest-paid players.
City boss Pep Guardiola who is a big fan of Sterling and the Manchester City board are said to be going to great lengths to keep Raheem Sterling after Real Madrid reportedly had him pinned at the top of their shopping list for the summer, and Barcelona, also keeping a close eye.
David de Gea’s recent contract renewal at Manchester United currently makes him the highest paid footballer in the English Premier League at £375000, and Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil second with £350000. Sterling’s new pay would see him equal Ozil’s and also make him the highest paid Englishman in the Premier League – £100000 higher than Anthony Martial’s £250000 and £150000 Harry Kane’s and Marcus Rashford’s £200000.
Sterling would also maintain his position as Manchester City’s most paid player, £130000 more than Sergio Aguero’s £220000.
Sterling whose current deal with Manchester City expires in 2023 has scored 14 goals in 17 club appearances this season.
