Protesters attack the home of governor-elect, Diri Duoye, destroy properties

Weeks after the Supreme Court sent the residents of Imo into the streets to protest a judgement, the same court has triggered similar reactions in Bayelsa state. this time however, the protests took a violent turn.

On Friday morning, hordes of protesters poured into the streets of Yenagoa and barricaded the streets. Protesters were expressing their anger at the Supreme Court judgement that sacked David Lyon of the APC who won the Bayelsa Gubernatorial election in 2019 with a landslide.

The apex court however nullified his election due to the forged qualifications of his deputy.

The protesters destroyed the windscreen of cars packed at the premises of the governor-elect, doors and windows at the residence. People who were around at the premises said they had to scamper for safety, when the hoodlums came visiting.
