President-elect, Tinubu returns to Nigeria after weeks in Europe

The President-Elect, Bola Tinubu has returned to Nigeria after over one month away in Europe.

The aircraft that conveyed him touched down at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja at 4:30pm on Monday, April 24th.

Tinubu returned with his wife and they were received by the Vice-President-elect, Kashim Shettima; Plateau State Governor, Simon Lalong; Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila amongst others.

The President-elect was received by a cheery crowd of supporters and members of the All Progressives Congress decked up in party paraphernalia.

The former governor of Lagos state has been out of Nigeria since March 22,one month before his inauguration on May 29, 2023.

News originally broke that Tinubu went for medical treatment, but media aide, Tunde Rahman said his principal travelled to Paris, France to rest, observe the lesser hajj and the United Kingdom to plan the transition programme.

He had said; “After a very exhaustive campaign and election season, President-elect, Asíwájú Bola Tinubu, has travelled abroad to rest and plan his transition programme ahead of May 29, 2023 inauguration.

“The President-elect left the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Ikeja for Europe on Tuesday night.

“The President-elect decided to take a break after the hectic campaign and election season to rest in Paris and London, preparatory to going to Saudi Arabia for Umrah (Lesser Hajj) and the Ramadan Fasting that begins Thursday.

“While away, the President-elect will also use the opportunity to plan his transition programme. He is expected back in the country soon.”
