Raw potatoes are eminently effective in lightening the dark spots and reducing pigmentation on the skin. Dark spots occur mostly because of prolonged hours of exposure under sun.  It can occur on any part of your body be it face, back, neck, shoulders, anywhere. These spots are not harmful or painful, they can be distressing when you consider them from a cosmetic angle.  Potato juice has proven to be a wonder ingredient to treat dark spots.

Benefit of potato on the skin

  1. Cures pimples. The potassium in potato hydrates the skin. Often excessive sebum production is due to un-hydrated skin. This natural ingredient effectively hydrates the skin while cleansing off the impurities. Curd also fights pimple-causing bacteria.
  2. Face Whitening; Potatoes contain enzymes which lighten the skin blemishes while bringing out the glow in your skin. It has mild bleaching properties which whiten the face effectively. It helps you get rid of ugly spots, marks, and blemishes.
  3. Acne Scars; The vitamin C and B6 along with zinc content in it help heal and nourish the damaged skin cells and promotes new skin cells. it help reduce inflammation caused by bruises, rashes, and ulcers.

In this post, we will focus on different potato face mask recipe.

1. Potato for glowing skin

  • 2 teaspoons potato juice
  • 2 teaspoons lemon juice
  • ½ teaspoon honey (optional)

What You Have To Do

  1. Mix the potato and lemon juices. Add honey to the mixture and blend well.
  2. Apply it all over your face and neck.
  3. Leave it on for 15 minutes.
  4. Wash it off with water.

2. Potato for dark spot

  • Potato
  • Yogurt
  • Rice flour

What You Have To Do

  • Mix 1 tablespoon of grated potato with 1 spoonful of rice flour
  • Add 1-2 tablespoonful of yogurt.
  • Make a fine paste and mix it with rose water to get the desired consistency and then apply it all over your face or on the dark spots.
  • Leave it for 30 minutes and then wash off with normal water.

You can also take out the juice from a grated potato and then apply the juice all over the dark spots. Leave the treatment overnight and then wash it off next morning. This help treat dark spot.

3. Potato for skin whitening

  • 3 tablespoons potato juice
  • 2 tablespoons honey

What You Have To Do

  • Mix the potato juice with honey.
  • Blend it well and apply to your face and neck.
  • Leave it on for 10 to 15 minutes (until it dries) and then wash it off.

4. Potato for acne

  • 1 tablespoon potato juice or pulp
  • 1 tablespoon tomato juice or pulp
  • 1 tablespoon honey

What You Have To Do

  1. Mix the potato and tomato juices/pulps.
  2. Add honey to the mixture and mix until you obtain a smooth paste.
  3. Apply it evenly on your face, focusing on the affected area.
  4. Apply once a day until the acne vanishes.

5. Potato for wrinkles

  • 1 potato (grated)
  • 2 tablespoons raw milk
  • 3-4 drops of glycerin (Glycerin is highly effective in moisturizing the skin and replenishing its elasticity. Both potato and glycerin treat wrinkles, reduce dark circles, and tighten the skin)

What You Have To Do

  1. Mix all the ingredients and apply it to your face (focus on the problem areas).
  2. Leave it on for 15 minutes or until it dries.
  3. Wash it off.
  4. Apply this mask twice a week.
