POS operators to introduce new service charge Monday

The Association of Mobile Money and Bank Agents in Nigeria has maintained its position that point-of-sale operators will implement the newly reviewed service charges on Monday, July 17.

National publicity secretary of the association, Elegbede Segun said current economic conditions have not prompted the agents to reconsider their plans.

In June, AMMBAN PRO Lagos Chapter, Stephen Adeoye, said the association had come up with a new price list for PoS agents operating in the state, adding that it also intends to extend the implementation of the new price range to the Federal Capital Territory and other states.

This generated controversy that led to threats of sanctions by the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission and the Central Bank of Nigeria.

But speaking in an interview on Friday, Segun said the threats were only on the pages of newspapers, adding that the association was well prepared to commence implementation.

“The reactions you have seen are just on the pages of newspapers, as far as the central bank and FCCPC is concerned,” he said.

Meanwhile, Big Brother Naija winner, Josephina Ijeoma Otabor popularly known as Phyna, shared her recent encounter with a POS attendant who overcharged her.

She sent her househelp to withdraw N10,000 from Point of Sale (PoS) terminal in her area but the girl came back saying that she was charged N4k for the withdrawal.

Phyna said she went to POS stand with the housemaid and caused a scene, which resulted in the attendant saying that she mistakenly removed N4,000 instead of N400. The reality TV star, who narrated what happened through her Snapchat account said she insisted on getting a refund and the girl gave her the balance of N3,600.

Phyna said; My house help say she withdrew N10k with N4k this morning, them dey whine celebrity. I think say withdrawing don go back to normal e be things. On my way to the particular POS….. this morning I just suddenly Have time for nonsense

In other news, popular crossdresser, Idris Okuneye popularly known as Bobrisky, revealed months ago that he caught his housemaid stealing his jewelry worth N3 million.

He said that he nabbed the girl absconding with the jewelry today, Friday, which happens to be her last day of work for the week

The male barbie said the maid took one ring and two gold earrings which she wrapped in her under garment and proceeded to the gate.

According to Bobrisky, she was supposed to leave for her home and return on Monday but there is a standing instruction that any of her househelps who is going home must inform him first so that he can instruct the security man to open the gate.

However, the maid hurriedly rushed to the gate with the N3m jewelry and when the gate man asked if she has requested permission to leave she said no.

Bobrisky shared the story on his Instagram page and warned people to be wary of their helps around Christmas period.
