Police ‘successfully’ recover three cows from rustler’s residence

Jigawa state Police Command, on Wednesday, said that its operatives successfully traced and recovered three cows allegedly stolen by suspected cattle rustler, Muktari Ibrahim.

Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Shiitu Lawan, in a statement revealed that the cattle was recovered at Ibrahim’s residence.

“On November 13th, 2023, at approximately 8:00 AM, Umar Musa (20 years old) and Idris Ismail (30 years old) from Malamawa village, Kiyawa LGA, reported to the Kiyawa Divisional Police Headquarters that unknown thieves had conspired and trespassed into their houses at around 3:00 am the same day, stealing three cows valued at ₦1,150,000,” DSP Shiitu said.

He said the 23-year-old Ibrahim, residing in Sabuwar Unguwa, Kiyawa LGA, was located following a tip-off received by the authorities.

Shiitu pointed out that during questioning, the suspect revealed that he had received the stolen cows from one Yusuf, who was still at large.

The spokesperson explained, “During questioning, Muktari Ibrahim revealed that he had received the stolen cows from one Yusuf, who is still at large.”

The PPRO further said the police authorities were actively intensifying efforts to apprehend the fleeing suspects, adding that the recovered cows have since been released on bond to their rightful owners.
