Osimhen hopes for first Ballon d’Or win

Napoli striker, Victor Osimhen has expressed high hopes of winning the prestigious Ballon d’Or award in his career.

The Nigeria international is among the 30 players nominated for the 2023 Ballon d’Or alongside France star, Kylian Mbappe, and other Africans; Mohamed Salah, Andre Onana and Yassine Bonou.

Argentina captain, Lionel Messi and Manchester City forward, Erling Haaland are the favourites to win the award.

Osimhen in a chat with Mario Balotelli’s Twitch Channel, Vox to Box on TV Play, wished to lay his hands on the award before hanging up his boot.

He said; “If one day I could get closer to win it, that would be more than a dream come true for me. Just playing at this level is already amazing for me. If it comes, it comes”.

The 67th annual Ballon d’Or ceremony will take place on Monday 30 October 2023.

Brazil legend, Ronaldo Nazario has disclosed the footballer he wants to win this year’s Ballon d’Or between Argentina captain, Lionel Messi and and Norway’s Erling Haaland.

Ahead of the much anticipated announcement of the winner for the 2023 Ballon d’Or which will be done next week, Ronaldo had a chat where he said he wants Messi to win.

He explaind that Messi deserves to win the award “without any doubt” after guiding the Argentina national team to win the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

According to TNT Sports, Ronaldo said; “The Ballon d’Or should go to him [Lionel Messi], without a doubt. What Messi did in the World Cup was special. It reminded me of the campaigns of Pelé and Maradona.”
