One begged me for $35k – Actor Chinedu Ikedieze laments over worrisome rise of online beggars (Video)

Seasoned Nigerian actor, Chinedu Ikediezie, also known as Aki, has taken to social media to bemoan the alarming rate at which people beg for money online.

In a video rant posted on his Instagram page, the movie star revealed that numerous people bombard his DM with financial requests.

Ikedieze said someone asked him for the whooping sum of $35,000 and another person requested $12,000. He also noted that the outrageous demands also come from foreigners.

The Nollywood icon appealed to fans and social media users to understand that celebrities also have responsibilities.

He said; “This is getting out of hand. How can you people turn my DM to Bank of Industry?. If I open my DM is always ‘’Oga please, please, please’ Jesus! It is too much. The way you guys beg it is like we do not have responsibilities. If I start to share the money like that it will finish.

Imagine somebody was begging me for $35, 000. That is how much in Naira? Approximately twenty something Million. Another one was asking me for $12, 000 that he wants to open a shop. The problem is even that it is not just Nigerians.”

In other news, singer, Ekenedirichukwu Ijemba, popularly known as Humble Smith, has revealed that he almost resorted to begging in 2015 before the divine intervention of his hit song.

He said he had gone to a place of worship in Lagos state to beg for help but later changed his mind after he got the inspiration for ‘Osinachi’ while in the church.

The 32-year-old made the disclosure during a recent interview on Hip TV’s Trending, hosted by reality TV star, KimOprah. Humble Smith said he struggled to get into the spotlight despite executing several musical projects, including shooting a music video in London.

He said; Osinachi’, every lyric in that song is just me [my story]. This is a true life story. I have something to connect to everybody.

I wrote ‘Osinachi’ in the church. I went to church to beg for money to feed. But when I got to the church, something told me I’m not a beggar. So, God blessed me with the song in the church.

On how he got Phyno on the song and Davido on the remix, Humble Smith said hi team suggested he features a superstar so that he could blow. He added that when the song started making waves, Davido reached out to him and showed interest.

Humblemsith said; After recording the song, they [my team] were like, ‘Guy you never blow, you need to put person [superstar] for the song to blow.’ So, we had to reach out to Phyno for that. Then after reaching out to Phyno, the song started making waves, and Davido called for the remix. Big thanks to him.
