Omokri asks President Buhari to beg King Charles to grant Ekweremadu royal pardon

Former presidential aide, Reno Omori has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to appeal to King Charles III for a royal prerogative of mercy for Nigerian politician, Ike Ekweremadu.

A UK court sentenced Senator Ekweremadu on Friday to nine years and eight months in jail, while his wife Beatrice bagged four years jail term for organ harvesting charges.

Omokri called on the president to seek for a royal pardon for the former deputy senate president as a parting gift to Nigeria.

The social commentator while making the appeal through Twitter, said if Buhari accedes to the request, history will remember him for good.

Omokri said; “As a parting gift to Nigeria, I appeal to President Muhammadu Buhari to use his private audience with King Charles III to appeal for a royal prerogative of mercy for Senator Ike Ekweremadu, which is within the power of the British monarch.

”The President will forever be appreciated and remembered for this gesture to a man who has served Nigeria loyally and dedicatedly and who only committed the crime he was convicted of because of desperation, as a loving father of a child in dire need of a kidney transplant.”

Meanwhile, the medical doctor involved in the scheme, as a medical “middleman” Dr Obeta, was sentence to 10 years in jail.

The couple’s daughter, Sonia Ekweremadu’s who needed the kidney transplant, wept as she was cleared of the same charge.

The judge, Mr Justice Johnson told the defendants: “In each of your cases, the offence you committed is so serious that neither a fine nor a community sentence can be justified.”
