Ogun court jails man two years for stealing

An Ota Magistrates’ Court sitting in Ogun State has sentenced a 47-year-old man, Ugochukwu Sunday, to two years imprisonment for stealing.

The Prosecutor, Insp E. O. Adaraloye, told the court that the convict broke into a company to steal a water dispenser and other items valued at N960,000.

He added that the convict maliciously damaged the ceiling while trying to break into the company’s building on October 17 at 5:30am in the Ota area of Ogun.

According to the prosecutor, the offences contravened Sections 390(9), 414 and 451 of the Criminal Code, Law of Ogun, 2006.

On Monday, the Magistrate, Mr O. O. Okiki, sentenced Sunday to prison without an option of a fine, after pleading guilty to stealing, damages and burglary.

Earlier, the Prosecutor, Insp E.O. Adaraloye, told the court that the convict committed the offence on February 28 at about 2:30 p.m. at No. 52, Plaza Junction, Sango-Ota.

Adaraloye said the offences were in contravention of Section 390 of the Criminal Code, Law of Ogun, 2006.
