English Premier League giant, Manchester United has confirmed their first signing of the summer transfer window. Manchester United who has been struggling to add new names to the club’s player list took to their official website and social media platforms to announce the signing of 23-year-old Dutch Midfielder, Donny van de Beek, from Ajax.
Manchester United wrote on their website;
“Manchester United is delighted to confirm the arrival of Donny van de Beek from Ajax. The Dutch midfielder has signed a five-year contract, with an option to extend for a further year.”
“Van de Beek, 23, came through the ranks of the Ajax youth system, making his senior debut in 2015. Experienced in European competitions, he played a key role as Ajax reached the semi-finals of the Champions League in 2019 and also featured in the 2017 Europa League final against United.”
“The Netherlands international contributed 10 goals and 11 assists in 37 games last season before the Eredivisie was curtailed.
Donny van de Beek said:
“I cannot begin to explain how incredible an opportunity it is to join a club with such an amazing history.
“I would like to thank everyone at Ajax. I grew up there and I will always have a special bond with the club.
“I am now ready to take the next step in my career and perform at the highest level and there is no higher standard than Manchester United.
Manchester United secured the signature of the young midfielder in a deal believed to be around £37 million plus an extra £3 million in add-ons.
