Mr Kunle Ajayi, one of the campaigners of the #OccupyLekkiTollgate, has said that protests would hold simultaneously in three states.

According to him, the protests would be staged in Lagos, Oyo and Adamawa states.

Ajayi said this during the PUNCH Live Debate on Wednesday,

According to him, #OccupyLekkiTollgate is a metaphor that symbolises a fight for justice for victims of the alleged killings by soldiers at the Lekki tollgate on October 20, 2020, and bad governance.

He said;

“This is not just about Lekki, there will be protests in other states like Oyo and Adamawa. We have to end bad governance and injustice in the country. People who lost their lives should not die in vain. Those who are sponsored to disrupt our fight for justice will not succeed.”

However, a #DefendLagos supporter, Alabi Opeyemi, speaking on the planned protest, urged Lagos residents to troop out to protect destruction.

He alleged that those planning to ‘occupy the Lekki tollgate’ have no genuine reason.

“All those who love Lagos should come out in mass to defend the state. We cannot afford another massive destruction in the state. We cannot allow enemies of the state to destroy it for us. This is our home, it is our heritage,” he added.

Some youths had threatened to hold a fresh protest at the Lekki tollgate on Saturday, February 13, 2021 over plans to reopen it for operations.
