Speaking in a recent interview with The Punch, Ojo, who snagged the coveted Best Actor award at the 2024 AMVCA, said he wants to bring an end to the disregard that others have for Nollywood.

The thespian said; “We have an international standard, but we still have a long way to go. I would really like us to compete with Hollywood. People in some parts of the world still look down on us, and I don’t want that to happen. That is what we are aiming for at my company— New Nigeria Cinema— to add value, and compete one on one with Hollywood.”

Relishing his win at the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards for his movie Breath of Life, Ojo said; “It is always great to be recognised by one’s peers and everyone. I felt good and we came out tops, so it was a crowning achievement.”

He also talked about the working experience with other actors on the set of the award-winning movie, saying there was great camaraderie.

In his words; “It was great. There was great camaraderie between the actors and the crew, and everyone worked hard. It also helped that Ibadan (where the movie was shot) is my hometown, so I was able to do what I wanted to do.”
