Nigerian woman, Pearlena Igbokwe appointed chairman of America’s Universal Studio Group

Nigerian-born, Pearlena Igbokwe has been appointed Chairman, Universal Studio Group, the umbrella body that houses Universal Television, Universal Content Productions (UCP) & NBC Universal International Studios.

Universal Studio Group is a division of NBCUniversal, one of the world’s leading media and entertainment companies in the development, production and marketing of entertainment, news and information for global audience.

A statement by Universal Studio Group said Igbokwe will lead the company’s growing global television studio businesses and report directly to NBCUniversal CEO, Jeff Shell.

She was born in Lagos, Nigeria and lived through the Nigerian civil war before she left the country to the United States at age 6.

Igbokwe before becoming chairman, was president of Universal Television, where she oversaw all aspects of the studio business and achieved record volume for the legacy studio.

She bagged a Bachelor of Arts degree from Yale University and an MBA from Columbia.

Pearlena has two lovely children and she lives with her family in California.
