Nigeria drop two places in latest FIFA ranking

The Super Eagles of Nigeria have dropped two places in the latest FIFA men’s ranking released on Thursday, April 4, 2024.

They are now 33 spots ahead of their West African rivals, Ghana after defeating the Black Stars 2-1 in last month’s international friendly.

In the ranking data released on Thursday, the three-time African champions dropped from 28th to 30th position while Ghana dropped one spot to 68th in the world.

Nigeria has played two friendly matches as of March 2024, the first was a 2-1 win over Ghana, but they lost the second match 2-0 to the Eagles of Mali.

The Super Eagles maintained third position in Africa behind Atlas Lions of Morocco and Terangha Lions of Senegal.

The Pharaohs of Egypt (37th) and Elephants of Cote d’Ivoire (38th) completed the top five teams on the continent. World champions Argentina maintained top position on the ranking.
