New Year: We’re ready to clamp down on those using knockouts, explosives – Police

The Nigerian Police Force has warned the general public against the use of knockouts and other explosives during the New Year celebrations.

This was contained in a press statement signed by the Police spokesman, Jigawa State Command, DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam. He said adequate arrangements have been put in place for the maintenance of law and order.

“The Jigawa State Police Command wishes to inform the general public that security arrangements are put in place to ensure hitch-free festivities across the state.

“People in the state are advised to carry out their festivities within the provisions of the law as the Police will not hesitate to clamp down on any person trying to foment trouble.

“The ban on the use of knockouts /fireworks/bangers/firecrackers and other explosive devices during any celebration is still in force,” the statement.

The Command warned parents to advise their children/wards to refrain from the use of such devices capable of instilling fear in people, especially during the Yuletide. Police also said anybody found flouting the order will be dealt with accordingly.
